The blog, the work, and the training all took turns at being fun, tiring, and difficult. Having public scrutiny certainly helped me keep to my routine but it didn't stop me from missing a few runs - most notably the last long run. (There was a blizzard, and I was feeling wussy. ) And it feels like I've missed as many blogs as workouts. It takes delight and discipline in about equal measure to keep these habits happening. The running I'll continue with. The blog is a time-sucking guilt trip, I liked writing it but I didn't enjoy the daily deadline on top of all the other work I had.
Speaking of habits, I couldn't stay away from the coffee-croissant combo in the mornings. It was creeping up to twice a week near the end of the stint, but even still I've lost a bit of weight. All my jeans are now so loose that I don't need to unbutton to pull them down. (:
I think I could have trained harder. The blog could have been a lot better. I could have focussed on work and made more things happen. I could have partied harder. But giving any one of these things more attention would have left the others in tatters. Why do we need to sleep? It would be so much easier to be the person I want to be if I didn't have to spend 6 - 8 hours every day comatose.
Was it worth it? Definitely. I'm thinner, thousands of pounds richer, and the contacts and leads I've garnered while working will hopefully sweeten 2010 with enough work. Oh, and I would never have seen this on my way to parly:
Love that hand placement.
Merry Christmas everyone, and thanks for all your comments and encouragement. It's been fun.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hogmanay...
